The Wind Blew, the Rain Came, the Power Went

The weather turned cold yesterday.
The wind blew with great gusto and the rain came down in grey, flapping sheets.
There was even a power outage for four hours.

The Morden Blush rose took everything in stride.

Some of the peonies opted to lie down on the job.

One could certainly say a good thorough watering was had by all.

Then the wind ceased, the power came back, and the rain went.
How is your weekend?
(I love reading your comments and will be sure to visit anyone who leaves one.)

Edited to add: My Little Home and Garden is now on Facebook, here.

  2. My garden is soaked with rain almost everyday.

We get more rain in Ireland than sunshine.

Love the flowers and the raindrops.

    Have a good weekend.

  3. Yes, it was so much cooler here and gusty winds all day. Then we had rain but it was later and I went to sleep, must have slept soundly as it didn't wake me up. I hate it when power (or even cable) goes out. xo

  4. Oh, I'm afraid that's what we're getting tomorrow. I have to put all my annuals back in the garage again! Your photos are beautiful and at least your beautiful flowers survived. Enjoy the weekend. Pamela

  6. Your rose weathered the wind and rain beautifully. Love the raindrops on it. Your peonies look like mine did after last weekends rain.
We are having beautiful weather here today. I am taking a break from the garage and playing with my plants. Must get out and get some weeding done. They have been so neglected.
    Wishing you a sunny Sunday!

  7. Hi, Karen! Love your pictures! The rose with the raindrops is my favorite :o) Hope sun will shine for you. It`s raining in Moscow now too, but this morning was a good weather. So I and my eldest daughter went shopping and bought some sweet little things just for girls :o)
P.S. And thank you, Karen for your kind comments and for following me too! You are so sweet :o)
    Have a sunny Sunday
    love

  9. We had that much needed rain yesterday, but luckily for us the power didn't go out. And it sure cooled down. Today was cloudy/sunny/a bit breezy but a good day to work in the garden and transplant some plants now the ground is lovely and wet.

  10. Hi Karen
Our weather was much the same as Linda's above and I was glad to be able to pot up the Proven Winner annuals and perennials I have to review. A couple of things to come from GardenImport and I'm done - not buying anything else!
I use strong peony rings on mine and they still manage to lay on the ground somehow. Your light pink blooms look pretty with the raindrops on - mine are just starting to open now.

  11. Hi Karen,
Your posies look fabulous with all the raindrops on them! We had a little rain on Thursday and it's been cooler. Our May was so nice up until the last week and it's been quite cool since then. I hope the weather man has warmer weather in the forecast. My rose buds are staying closed until it warms up and I guess I don't blame them. Thank you for your visit and enjoy the rest of your weekend.

    Blessings,
    Sandi

  12. Oh my goodness! What lovely pics! Isn't it amazing how much better everything does with a drink of rain as compared to water from the hose? I think God adds a little something extra to the water when it comes back into the clouds before it falls again, don't you? We had a heavy downpour last night too, but no storm or hail like was predicted. Thank goodness! Our corn and beans don't need that. Thank you so much for your kind comments on my blog. I appreciate them and am your newest follower!

  15. Hi Karen, So glad you got a good rain. It always refreshes the garden, even if it does make the peonies lie down on the job! The photo with the raindrops on the blush rose is gorgeous. Send some rain down our way, would you please? We did get some last week but the ground is very thirsty.
    Hugs and God bless, Beth
